Thick candle capacity = 6 * 60 = 360 Mins.
Thin candle = 4 * 60 = 240 Mins.

After one hour...
thick: thin = 300 : 180

after two hours thik : Thin = 240:124..

The equations for the lengths of the candles (in terms of time)

Thick length = 1 - t/6
Thin length = 1 - t/4
At time T, (1 - T/6) = 2*(1-T/4)
This gives T = 3. Source: CoolInterview.com

let H be the initial ht of 2 candles.let thicker candle be 2x & other be x after some time.
H is melted in 6hrs. hence (H-2x)is melted in t hrs.
t=(H-2X)6/H=(H-X)4/H
H=4X.
T=3 Source: CoolInterview.com

let the length of both the candles be 'x'.
every 1hr, thicker candle will reduce in length by x/6 and thinner one by x/4.
therefore, after 3hrs, thicker candle will be x/2 in length and thinner one will be x/4, i.e the thicker one is twice the length of the thinner one.
so the answer is 3hrs Source: CoolInterview.com

Correct answer is 3 hours.
If full length of candle is 1.

After one hour length of thick:thin = 5/6:3/4
After two hours length of thick:thin = 4/6:2/4
After three hours length of thick:thin = 3/6:1/4 = 2 Source: CoolInterview.com
