INTERVIEW QUESTIONS OPERATING SYSTEMS LINUX DETAILS

Question: What is UserLabel Thread?

Answer: User-level avoids the kernel and manages the tables itself. Often this is called "cooperative multitasking" where the task defines a set of routines that get "switched to" by manipulating the stack pointer. Typically each thread "gives-up" the CPU by calling an explicit switch, sending a signal or doing an operation that involves the switcher. Also, a timer signal can force switches. User threads typically can switch faster than kernel threads

Question: What is UserLabel Thread?

Answer:

User-level avoids the kernel and manages the tables itself. These are invisible to the Operating System. These are created by the System Level Library(in Unix it is POSIX library).

consider p1 got time slice of 100 ms.
5 threads of that process will share the time slice 100 ms.
T1-20
T2-30
T3-10
T4-35
T5-5

Which thread has to share how much time slice will be decided by the developer at the time of developing the software (or that program).

For suppose if 1 thread goes to waiting state then entire process will be swithched to waiting state(all the threads of that process). Source: CoolInterview.com
