INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
J2EE
ECLIPSE
DETAILS
Question: How to create, deploy a servlet and jsp file in eclipse?
Answer: That's a good question. Eclipse is an IDE which stands for Integrated Development Environment. As such it stands as a plain IDE and not integrated with any Application Server into which you can deploy and run any server side components such as Servlet, Jsp file etc.,
Using eclipse you can definitely have those files built (as any other java file or xml/html/jsp files). You can very well build an application using Ant script or the built in command (Build Project - you can get it in the one of the options in the 'Project' menu OR simply press 'Ctrl+B' by selecting the project).
But as far as a J2EE application is concerned you better have to have an Ant Script for deploying the .ear/.war file according to your application structure but complaint to the J2EE standards. You need to run that particular ant file (build.xml) within eclipse so as to get the .ear / .war file out of it.
After getting the archive file , you go to the application/web server and deploy it in the specific location according to the server.
