Question: What is the difference between usability testing and GUI?

Answer: GUI testing is done to ensure the GUI conforms to design specifications - e.g. colours, fonts, font sizes, placement of data labels and fields, icons, buttons, links, etc. are displayed as specified.

Usability testing is done to ensure that the GUI is well designed and easy to use - e.g. are mandatory fields displayed first, is the cursor positioned at the right field on initial entry, is tabbing done in the right order, is the text easy to read against the background colour, etc.

usability testing is verifying that how easily the end user can use the application. We have to test this in such a way to make the application easy to use.
GUI (graphical user interface) is verifying the User interface of the application i.e. the options, functions, front end design, font color, Text format, Labels, background, foregroung Etc.
This is the process of verifying the look and feel environment of the application.

User interface testing is very imp for web applications. Because No.of visitors are more so we have to check the front end design very carefully.

in usability testing we check for user friendliness of the application.(i.e how easily use can access the application)but in GUI testing we check for the front end design of the application meets the software standards or not. Source: CoolInterview.com
