Question: Difference between win xp,win 2000 professional?

Answer: There really is no structural difference, mainly topographical. They are both based off of Windows NT (New Technology). Win2000 = NT 5.0 WinXP = NT 5.1. They both use the NTFS file system providing for file encryption and compression, and enhanced security (set file permissions for individual files and folders). The real differences are visual styles, a tasks pane for user friendly ways to do common tasks, and some extra administrative options like remote desktop (terminal services in 2000), built-in CD burning support, Internet Connection Firewall, and Internet Connection Sharing.

Basicly they're the same OS, but XP has some fancy bells & whistles.

Windows XP has several features that distinguish it from Windows 2000.

1. The Luna interface.
2. Integrated zip functionality.
3. Remote Assistance.
4. Integrated CD burning.
5. Hyperthreading support
6. User-mode driver framework (created after XP was released, and never backported).
7. Windows Movie Maker
8. Fast User Switching
9. The option to run tasks as an "Administrator" while logged in as an unprivleged account (pity this isn't done more often).
