Inserting a new Column into a table:

General Syntax:

insert into tablename(columnname datatype);


insert into employee(salary number(10));

Inserting column:

ALTER TABLE <tablename> ADD <columnname> <column_definition>

We Cant able to insert a new column through INSERT COMMAND.

INSERT Command is only used for Inserting the Values into the table for all the columns.

For Inserting one Column or More than One we have to use ALTER COMMAND.

The Syntax is


For inserting More than one column we have to use (,) in between the columns.

Insert command only inserting the values into a table but cant able to insert column through insert command.
Through alter command we can add a new column into a table.
